Welcome to Odemny. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, protect, and handle your data when you use the Odemny Student Search Engine. By accessing or using our services, you consent to the data practices described in this policy. This service is designed primarily for K-12 educational environments operating within the jurisdiction of the State of New York.

2. Data Collection

To ensure a secure and moderated educational environment, Odemny collects the absolute minimum amount of information required:

• Authentication Data: We use Google OAuth to verify your identity. We receive an anonymous Technical ID (Firebase UID), your basic profile name, and your school email address to confirm your authorization on the network.
• Search History: We record the search queries typed into the engine. This is required to optimize network filtering, prevent abuse, and allow administrators to review compliance.
• Device Presence: We generate temporary, randomized Device IDs to monitor active connections strictly for network bandwidth management.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively for the functional operation of the Odemny service. Specifically, data is utilized to:

• Authenticate your session on a verified school network.
• Display authorized, whitelisted search results tailored by your administration.
• Provide statistical safety reports to authorized school administrators.

We do not, under any circumstances, sell, rent, or trade your personal information or search history to third-party advertising or marketing agencies.

4. COPPA & CIPA Compliance

Odemny is designed from the ground up to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA).

We do not proactively solicit Personally Identifiable Information (PII) from children under the age of 13. Any data processed is done so under the direct authorization and supervision of the partnered educational institution acting as the agent of consent.

5. Third-Party Services

Odemny relies on enterprise-grade infrastructure to operate securely. We utilize Google Firebase (Google LLC) for database hosting and authentication. By using Odemny, you acknowledge that your technical data is processed through Google's secure servers. Odemny is not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites linked within our search results.

6. Data Security

We implement robust, industry-standard security measures, including SSL/TLS encryption for all data transmissions. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK, ODEMNY DISCLAIMS ALL LIABILITY FOR ANY UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO, OR USE OF, OUR SECURE SERVERS AND/OR ANY AND ALL PERSONAL INFORMATION STORED THEREIN. IN NO EVENT SHALL ODEMNY BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF PRIVACY BREACHES BEYOND OUR REASONABLE CONTROL.
